Summary

AS AN INTERIM REPLACEMENT FOR THE OZONE DEPLETING R502 IN SUPERMARKET LOW TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS, R22 IS BEING USED BY MANY COMPANIES. HOWEVER, HIGH DISCHARGE TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE COMPRESSOR FAILURE THROUGHOIL CARBONISATION AT DISCHARGE VALVES UNLESS SUCTION SUPERHEAT IS TIGHTLY CONTROLLED. LIQUID INJECTION INTO THE SUCTION LINE IS PUT FORWARD AS THE SIMPLE SOLUTION. ONE COMPRESSOR MANUFACTURER IS MARKETING COMPRESSORS FITTED WITH MICROPROCESSOR DETECTION OF DISCHARGE TEMPERATURE OPERATING LIQUID INJECTION AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION ONLY WHEN STRICTLY NECESSARY.
