Summary
NO SUITABLE SUBSTITUTE HAS YET BEEN PRODUCED FOR R502 IN LOW TEMPERATURE SUPERMARKET FIXTURES. IT SEEMS LIKELY THAT R22 WILL BE USED FOR SUPERMARKET SYSTEMS OPERATED PREVIOUSLY ON R12 AND R502. THE PROBLEM RAISED IS THE METHOD OF SAFEGUARDING THE R22 COMPRESSOR AGAINST HIGH DISCHARGE TEMPERATURES.
