Improved quality in mangoes through the combined action of refrigeration and fungicides.

Amélioration de la qualité des mangues par action combinée du froid et des fongicides.

Author(s) : SY O., NDIAYE M., NDIAYE S.

Summary

The mango is a tropical fruit whose refrigerated shelf life is from 7 to 14 days, a duration that is limited by quality-compromising storage injuries. To preserve this quality, fungicidal treatments were applied before cold storage. Benlate, thiabendazole and prochloraz at concentrations of 1000 to 3000 ppm in a warm bath for 5 minutes prolonged storage life at 12 deg C (relative humidity 85%) to 5 weeks and resulted in firm enough ripe fruit devoid of parasital deteriorations.
