Influence of harvest date and controlled atmosphere storage delay on the colour and quality of "Delicious" apples stored in a purge-type controlled-atmosphere environment.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Immediate establishment of controlled-atmosphere conditions after harvest resulted in good quality fruits after 9 months of storage, but reduced quality was evident when controlled-atmosphere establishment was delayed by 5 days (the interim period being spent in refrigerated storage at 1 deg C). Longer delays did not result in greater quality loss.
