Summary
This refrigerant, a drop-in replacement for R502 is a near-azeotropic ternary blend of R22, R218 and R290, offering up to 90% reduction in ozone depletion and improved energy efficiency compared to R502. Figures are shown for a 12 month trial in a supermarket system using a pack of 4, 20hp, four-cylinder compressors. Oil return properties appear to be better than with R502. The blend is non-flammable and gives lower discharge temperature than the similar blend 69-S. D.W.H.
