THE FRENCH TRADE BALANCE FOR FROZEN MEAT SHOWS A SLIGHT DEFICIT. MINCED STEAK REMAINS STEADY, BUT THE SUPPLY OF MINCED MEAT IS DECREASING. CHANGES IN THE INTERNATIONAL MEAT TRADE ARE DESCRIBED, INCLUDING SANITARY AND ECONOMIC REQUIREMENTS. TWO TABLES GIVE TONNAGES OF THE PRINCIPAL EXPORTING AND IMPORTING COUNTRIES FROM 1986 TO 1989. THE MINCED MEAT MARKET IS REVIEWED AND ITS PROBLEMS UNDERLINED: MEAT BALLS, < CROQUETTES >, HAMBURGERS, ETC PREPARED WITH MINCED MEAT, OTHER INGREDIENTS AND VEGETABLES ARE ALSO MENTIONED. THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF THE FROZEN MEAT SECTOR IN TERMS OF ADVERTISING AND MARKETING IS EXPLAINED, AND EFFORTS TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION BY CERTAIN COMPANIES ARE DESCRIBED.
