Summary

QUALITY OF BLACKCURRANT OJEBYN CULTIVAR AND RED CURRANT RONDOM FRUITS HARVESTED MECHANICALLY AND BY HAND WAS INVESTIGATED. MECHANICALLY HARVESTED FRUITS WERE ACCOMPANIED BY VERY FEW INJURIES (0.16% FOR BLACK AND 0.2% FOR RED CURRANTS), AND DID NOT DIFFER IN THAT RESPECT FROM HAND HARVESTED FRUIT. ANALYSIS FOR DRY MATTER, SOLUBLE SOLIDS, ORGANIC ACIDS, ASCORBIC ACID AND ANTHOCYANIN HAS SHOWN THAT THE FRUITS HARVESTED MECHANICALLY WERE MORE RIPE THAN THOSE HARVESTED BY HAND. NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES WERE FOUND IN THE QUALITY EVALUATION OF COMPOTES AND FROZEN FRUITS.
