Summary

CO2 heat pump is a promising system for electric vehicles to improve its heating performance in cold region. The external heat exchanger is a key component acting as evaporator on heating mode and gas cooler on cooling mode, respectively. In this paper, the simulation model of a kind of micro-channel heat exchanger for CO2 heat pump is setup and validated. The maximum errors of heat capacity and refrigerant-side pressure drop between the simulated results and experimental results are within 8.5% and 11.6%, respectively. Based on the simulation model, the performance of this heat exchanger with different structure layout is analyzed under different working conditions. Accordingly, an optimized structure of the micro-channel heat exchanger for CO2 heat pump is presented to get the optimal performance in electric vehicles.
