Summary
SURFACE STRUCTURES AND DECOMPOSITION PROCESSES IN THE GILL TISSUE OF BALTIC SEA HERRINGS DURING STORAGE IN COOLED SEA WATER WERE SCANNED WITH ELECTRON MICROSCOPY. BASED ON PHOTOMACROGRAPHICAL FIGURES, IT WAS SEEN IN POSTMORTEM ANALYSIS THAT IN THE AREA OF THE GILLS, THE MUCOUS EPITHELIUM WAS DECOMPOSED. AFTER THE DECOMPOSITION OF THE EPITHELIUM CELLS, THE SURFACE OF THE CONNECTIVE TISSUE, WHICH IS SITUATED UNDER THE EPITHELIUM CELLULAR STRUCTURE, BECOMES VISIBLE AS < WATER-PATTERN >, WHICH IS PERCEPTIBLE IN TEST CONDITIONS WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT CHANGES OF DETAIL IN THE SURFACE STRUCTUR. THE ADVANCED DECOMPOSITION PROCESS OF GILLS IS DOCUMENTED IN COOLED SEA WATER AT DEFINED CONDITIONS, BY MEANS OF TEMPORAL GRADUATED FIGURES OF TISSUE STRUCTURES.
