Summary

WITH THE CARBON DIOXIDE ROTATING FREEZER THE PRODUCTS ARE THROWN WITH CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2 ) SNOW AT HIGH VELOCITY INTO THE OPENING OF THE TUBE (DRUM), SO AS TO FREEZE THE MOIST SURFACE OF THE PRODUCT IN THE WHIRLING CO2 SNOW AND IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS IN THE CO2 SNOW LAYER. THIS ALSO PREVENTS THE PRODUCT PIECES STICKING TO THE COLD INNER WALL OF THE TUBE. HEAT REMOVAL IS BY SUBLIMATION OF THE CO2 SNOW TO THE SURFACES OF THE PRODUCT. AN IMPROVEMENT IN HEAT EXCHANGE IS ACHIEVED BY ROTATING THE PRODUCT THOROUGHLY IN THE CO2 SNOW LAYER.
