New fluorinated propane and butane derivatives and HFC245ca-HFC338mccq mixtures as alternative CFCs and HCFCs.

Summary

A total of eight new chemicals has been synthesized and six of these have boiling points in the range 19.9 to 41.2 deg C. The boiling point and many of the other physical properties of the latter chemicals implies these chemicals have potential as refrigerants and foam blowing agents. Of these chemicals R338mcfm (boiling point = 20 deg C) has a high potential as a R11 alternative and therefore should be given further consideration as such. This chemical is very likely nonflammable because of its low hydrogen content.
