New foam blowing agents containing fluoroiodocarbons (FIC).
Author(s) : NIMITZ J.
Summary
The paper describes a new group of high-performance foam blowing agents that are nonflammable and appear to be nontoxic and environmentally safe. These agents contain FICs either neat or in blends. The paper discusses the physical, thermodynamic, toxicological, and environmental properties of FIC-based foam blowing agents, as well as availability and cost. FICs can also be blended with flammable agents to form nonflammable mixtures. The status of current laboratory testing and recommendations for future work are presented.
