Summary

After analysis of French standards and regulations on the use of ammonia, it seems that new outlook for ammonia is low-capacity direct-expansion circuits or liquid-cooling units for machine rooms. The basic technical data for refrigerants and components are described. Finally, the operational differences between ammonia and halogenated refrigerants are mentioned; the necessity to reintroduce education on ammonia in schools is underlined. J.L.
