Summary
Between 1999 and 2001, seven relatively early to relatively late harvest potato varieties were tested on a national scale in Switzerland. Four varieties were added to the Swiss list of potato varieties in 2002 and 2003. Naturella is a relatively early harvest retail variety of type B-C with good mildew-resistant properties. Fontane is a relatively early harvest variety which is suitable for the production of French fries and crisps and has a good shelf life. Innovator, a relatively early variety, produces large tubercules suitable for the production of French fries; this variety has good mildew-resistant properties and a good shelf life.
