Overpressures-underpressures in large cold rooms.

Surpressions-dépressions dans les chambres froides de grandes dimensions.

Summary

The author adopts simplifying hypotheses specific to the category of the equipment under study. Among the ten causes of overpressures-underpressures compiled, only a limited number are taken into account, the others having supposedly, in the present case, little or negligeable effects, and effects non simultaneous to the major effects when of limited duration. It is always possible to boost, if necessary, the practical calculation results through the use of a numerical "safety" coefficient, so that disregarded effects are indirectly taken into account. The author applies this theory to the large modern cold stores for storage and distribution of frozen products; those spaces are bigger than 10,000 m3 and can reach 50,000 m3 in size or even more. He has been applying it for about ten years and, although he is not saying that the problem is now over for this category of refrigerated equipment, he observes a total absence of incidents so far.
