OVERVIEW OF SUBSTITUTES FOR CFCS IN COMPRESSION SYSTEMS.

Author(s) : BOUGARD J.

Summary

THE CHOICE OF A REFRIGERANT FOR A COMPRESSION REFRIGERATING MACHINE OR A HEAT PUMP RESULTS FROM THE WEIGHING OF THE THERMODYNAMIC, TECHNOLOGICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND COMMERCIAL CONSTRAINTS. RESEARCH ON SUBSTITUTE PRODUCTS FOR CFCS IS VITAL, SINCE ALL CURRENTLY USED FLUIDS EXCEPT R22 AND AMMONIA ARE, OR WILL BE, CONTROLLED. THERE ARE THREE CLASSES OF POTENTIAL SUBSTITUTES: 1) NEW CFCS: R125, R143A, R134A, R152A, R124A, R142B, R123 AND R141B ; 2) AZEOTROPIC AND QUASI-AZEOTROPIC MIXTURES ; 3) LINEAR OR CYCLICAL HYDROCARBONS AND THEIR MIXTURES.
