Type of article: Article

Summary

A case study was carried out in order to try and identify the specific causes of postharvest deterioration of seedless grapes in today's industry in the United Kingdom. Dehydration and berry shatter were the 2 main causes of quality loss found during this stage of the study. Bruising, pathogen infection and sulphur dioxide injury occurred but at a lower frequency. It is suggested that modified atmosphere packaging could play an important role in addressing the issues mentioned above and will be the focus of the next stage of this ongoing research programme.
