Summary

THE INVESTIGATION WAS UNDERTAKEN TO EXAMINE WHETHER THE WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE-ZINC CHLORIDE-CALCIUM BROMIDE SYSTEM IS SUITED FOR ABSORPTION SYSTEMS. THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AND THE THERMAL PROPERTIES OF SOLUTIONS WERE MEASURED AT VARIOUS TEMPERATURES AND ABSORBENT CONCENTRATIONS. SOLUBILITIES WERE OBTAINED IN THE TEMPERATURE RANGE 280-455 K (7-182 DEG C). THE HEATS OF MIXING AT 298 K (25 DEG C) WERE OBTAINED FOR SOLUTIONS WHOSE ABSORBENT CONCENTRATION RANGED FROM 0 TO 78 WT%. THE EMPIRICAL FORMULAE FOR SOLUBILITY, VAPOUR PRESSURE, SPECIFIC HEAT CAPACITY AND HEAT OF MIXING WERE OBTAINED AND THE ENTHALPY VERSUS CONCENTRATION CHART OF THIS SYSTEM WAS CONSTRUCTED.
