THE RESULTING EFFECTS OF THE PARTIAL SUBSTITUTION OF CHLOROFLUOROCARBONS FOR AIR OXYGEN ARE REPORTED AS A FUNCTION OF THE VALUE OF THE PARTIAL PRESSURE OF RESIDUAL OXYGEN, THIS VARYING ACCORDING TO THE ALTITUDE OF THE PLACE. THE NATURE OF THE HALOCARBON IS ALSO INVOLVED. AMMONIA IS THEN STUDIED AND ITS TOXIC EFFECTS ACCORDING TO ITS CONCENTRTO THE HAZARDS DUE TO ITS FLAMMABILITY AND EXPLOSIVITY ARE RELATIVELY SMALL, MAINLY BECAUSE SMELL IS VERY SENSITIVE TO ITS PRESENCE IN SMALL AMOUNTS.
