Summary

The providing of a prepackaged range of products available at the retail outlet is a valuable service that promotes sales. In order to comply with the regulations governing these products, the following rules need to be followed. When fruit and vegetables are prepackaged at the sales outlet (unseen by the consumer), such prepackaging must be mentioned. In order to facilitate labelling, the information that must be provided can be placed on a readily visible and legible notice placed close to the product in question, with the exception of the use by date, the best before date or a batch number (or the packaging date clearly indicated), that must be shown on each sales unit, along with the net weight.
