Summary

CULTIVARS OF ACTINIDIA (KIWI FRUIT) WERE COOLED IN ORDINARY WATER AND WATER CONTAINING SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE (1 G./L). THEY WERE THEN STORED IN A CELL CONTAINING AN ETHYLENE FLUSHED ATMOSPHERE. THE LARGER AND FIRMER THE FRUIT, THE BETTER ARE STORAGE QUALITIES (PARTICULARLY THE HAYWARD VARIETY). HYDROCOOLING IS BENEFICIAL. SOME CULTIVARS TESTED WERE FOUND TO BE UNSUITABLE FOR CA STORAGE.
