Summary

Many pre 1994 vehicles using R12 in their air conditioning systems are potential retrofit candidates for R134a, but there is a problem of in situ draining of mineral oil. However, two major oil suppliers have offered synthetic oils which appear to work in conjunction with some residual oil without the anticipated operational difficulties. Many operators are expected to fit conversion kits which include compressors, hoses, seals and O rings, etc. G.R.S.
