R22 alternative refrigerants: test on an air-cooled screw compressor water chiller using a ternary mixture.

Author(s) : SORMANI G.

Summary

An air-cooled water chiller screw compressor has been tested to compare R22 and K66 (R32-R125-R134a: 23-25-52). A special care has been given to the pressure and temperature measurements during evaporation phase so to take the advantages offered by the ternary mixture: the temperature glide. By using a two passages shell and rippled tube evaporator arranged in an asymmetrical configuration, a different number of tubes in the passages was used.
