Author(s) : HUGHES P. J.

Summary

Variable- or multi-speed electric heat pumps, electric ground-source heat pumps, dual-fuel heat pumps, multifunction heat pumps and electric cool storage concepts have been developed in order to reduce energy consumption, and several types of gas heat pumps are emerging. A residential gas heat pump benefits assessment is performed to assist gas utility and equipment manufacturer decision making on the level of commitment they should make to this technology. The methodology and generic types of results that can be generated are described. National market share is estimated using a market segmentation approach.
