ROUTINE COLLECTION OF PRODUCT TEMPERATURE HISTORY DURING STORAGE AND TRANSPORT OF CHILLED PACKAGED MEAT.

Author(s) : PHILLIPS D. M., GILL C. O.

Summary

THE ROUTINE COLLECTION OF THE TEMPERATURE HISTORY OF CHILLED MEAT SHIPMENTS IS NECESSARY IF THE PRODUCT SHOULD BE EXPORTED RELIABLY TO REMOTE MARKETS. TO THIS PURPOSE A SMALL CHEAP LOGGER WHICH IS INTRODUCED WITH THE PRODUCT INTO THE CARTON WAS DESIGNED. THE LOGGER CAN BE INTERROGATED BY A SMALL COMPUTER BUT IT CANNOT BE RESET. THUS THE PRODUCER CAN KNOW THE TEMPERATURE HISTORY OF SHIPMENTS WHEN THE LOGGER IS RETURNED BY POST. THE TESTS ON PROTOTYPES INTRODUCED IN SHIPMENTS SHOWED IT CAN OPERATE SUCCESSFULLY AS FORESEEN.
