Sassnitz: the most modern centre for fish processing in Europe.
Le centre de transformation du poisson le plus moderne d'Europe à Sassnitz.
Type of article: Article, Case study
Summary
The largest fish processing centre and the most modern in Germany and Europe came into service in the middle of 2003 at Sassnitz, on the Rügen peninsula. The refrigerating technique is also visionary: refrigeration is produced in a separate machine building, using NH3, which is a natural refrigerant; CO2, an environmentally-safe secondary refrigerant, or the secondary refrigerant polypropylene glycol are used to distribute the cold to the freezing warehouse as well as to the very large processing and storage facilities.
