Type of article: Periodical article
Summary
Following the phasing out of R12 and R502, a large number of substitute refrigerants have been marketed. Users must make a choice considering the Total Equivalent Warming Impact and factors such as cost, experience, servicing and retrofitting possibilities. One user suggests R404A as the best replacement for both R12 and R502, and has produced a methodical decision making process to help customers chose the applicable option for an existing plant.
