Summary

In the first part, the paper treats shortly of question concerning the protection against explosions and the regulatory papers concerning it. The second part reviews the state of the art of the most important probes used in current technical gas measurement systems. Some typical products are presented as examples together with the short review of the measurement methods used. A third part discusses the particular requirements for applications of the gas probes and the process to respect in view to make the project of a gas alarm system.
