Summary

States that at the end of September 1990, cogeneration in Japan had grown to some 900 installations producing a total of 1585 megawatts. Of these, gas cogeneration systems have shown a remarkable six-fold increase from 42 megawatts at the end of 1985 to 243 megawatts at the end of 1989. Presents the current state of gas industries and introduces new regulations concerning gas-fired cogeneration systems and gas-engine heat pumps, eg guidelines for interconnections between cogeneration systems and utilities, regulations for cogeneration systems' power supply to third parties and GE/GT/DE environmental regulations (nitrous oxide emissions).
