Summary
This document is a collection of work (1 article, a 1st year report and a final technical report) and is presented as a summary of a number of different pieces carried out over a period of 4 years on the benefit of CFD to the refrigeration industry, which is difficult to quantify. It tries to give an impartial view of the advantages of CFD whilst also showing its drawbacks. Titles of documents included: modelling of chilled display cabinets; CARRIER Technology Programme: demonstration of CFD to the food industry, 1st year report and final technical report. During the Sydney Congress of the IIR, September 19-24, 1999, the author was awarded the IIR Clarence Birdseye Prize to Young Researchers for this work.
