The continuous-properties model for melting and freezing applied to fine-crystalline ice slurries.

Author(s) : EGOLF P. W., FREI B.

Summary

It is shown that a macroscopic melting model, the continuous-properties model, is very suitable to numerically study the behaviour of fine-crystalline ice slurries. To apply the model it is essential to have knowledge of the density, the enthalpy and the thermal conductivity as a function of temperature. Accurate results concerning these data prove that in some domains there is no dependence on the particle size, which is of great value in ice slurry system design.
