The effect of stratification on energy and exergy capacities in thermal storage systems.
Author(s) : ROSEN M. A., TANG R.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The article assesses the increase in exergy capacity that is attained in thermal storage through stratification. It utilizes a design-oriented temperature distribution model for vertically stratified thermal storages that facilitates the evaluation of storage energy and exergy contents. it states that a wide range of storage-fluid temperature profiles were considered, and for each the relative increase in exergy content of the stratified storage compared with the same storage when fully mixed was evaluated.
