The engine exhaust gases as energy source of an air condensed mobile absorption machine.

Author(s) : IZQUIERDO M., MARTIN E.

Summary

Since the condensation temperature of the air condensed system is higher than that of the water condensed system, its viability was tested for condensation temperatures near 50 deg C. The absorption cooling systems could use engine exhaust heat gases as an energy source to feed the machine generator. A heat recoverer, made of helical oval tubes, has a complex geometry which produces a swirling flow, increasing the heat transfer and lowering size and weight by as much as 30% when compared to conventional heat exchangers.
