THE PAPER GIVES DATA ON THE FREEZING TIMES OF 7.6, 10.2 AND 15.2 CM THICK LIVER BLOCKS PACKAGED IN POLYETHYLENE AND FROZEN IN A VERTICAL PLATE FREEZER BETWEEN 253 AND 233 K (-20 AND -40 DEG C). FREEZING TIMES AT 266 K (-7 DEG C) IN THE CORE FOR 7.6 AND 15.2 CM THICK BLOCKS RANGE BETWEEN 2. 57 AND 10.64 HRS AT 253 K AND BETWEEN 1.07 AND 5.31 HRS AT 233 K. THE RESULTS ARE DISCUSSED WITH REGARDS TO PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS AND THE FREEZING OF LESS THICK BLOCKS IS SUGGESTED.
