Summary

The melting point of the refrigerants is urgently needed to determine the minimum operating temperature of the refrigeration system, and the enthalpy of melting also needs to be studied to utilize the latent heat of solid-liquid phase transition. In this study, totally 16 refrigerants including hydrocarbons (HCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) and hydro-chloro-fluoro-olefins (HCFOs) were studied, and the melting point and enthalpy of melting were experimental measured. A cryogenic device with view windows was used to measure the melting points of refrigerants based on the visualization and thermal method. Meanwhile, another apparatus was also used to obtain the melting point temperatures and enthalpies of melting of studied refrigerants by calorimetric method. The studied results were found to be in good agreement within the estimated measurement uncertainty, and some experimental data were published for the first time.
