The R125-R290-R134a mixture as a substitute for R502 in commercial refrigeration.

Summary
The possibility of using the R125-R290-R134a mixture to replace R502 has been studied. The performance of this mixture has been calculated assuming -25 deg C at the evaporator inlet and a 45 deg C dew-point temperature at the condenser. Compositions that ensure a performance very similar to that of R502 are: R125 = 50-70; R290 = 5-10; R134a = 20-45. Five different mixtures have been tested in a refrigerated display cabinet. The results of these tests confirm that this mixture could be a good substitute for R502.
