IRRADIATION IS A RECENT PROCESS. ITS ADVANTAGES WERE SHOWN AND THE AUTHORS PRESENT THE FACTS ESTABLISHING THAT VARIOUS COMBINATIONS OF IRRADIATION AND COOLING PROCESSES RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT EXTENSION OF SHELF LIVE, COMPARED TO COOLING ONLY: EXAMPLES OF STRAWBERRY, MANGO AND ASPARAGUS.
