The Turkish cold chain: status and market.

Turquie : la situation et le marché de la chaîne du froid + fiche de synthèse.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The Turkish cold chain started developing in the 1950s with the emergence of state-owned companies: EBK (meat and fishery product manufacturer) in 1950 and SEK (state dairy farms) in 1963. The sector has experienced considerable growth since 1990 because of the increase of quick-frozen food exports, the influence of western eating habits and the arrival of modern distribution methods leading to increased local demand for quick-frozen foodstuffs. The Turkish market has a strong potential, which should not be neglected in the years to come.
