Thermal conduction in non-homogeneous and phase-change media.

Author(s) : BART G. C. J.

Type of monograph: Thesis

Summary

This thesis, presented for the degree of Doctor, develops tools that could lead to a better understanding of the fundamentals of heat transport in a medium that consists of a phase-change material with an embedded metal matrix structure. Attention has been paid to a numerical finite-difference model. Applications in other fields as for example the freezing of water containing food can also be carried out and conduction in thermal insulation foams has been applied as well. Extract of contents: introduction; steady and transient heat conduction in composite materials; phase change problems; combination of phase-change effects with non-homogeneous effects.
