Thermal insulations: CFC-alternatives and vacuum insulation.

Author(s) : BRODT K.

Type of monograph: Thesis

Summary

This thesis, presented for the degree of Doctor, examines the use of the common polyurethane foam because of its high resistance to gas diffusion, but blown with agents having less impact on the environment. Another promising approach to insulation, the use of vacuum panels, is also being investigated. Extract of contents: introduction; thermal insulants; modes of heat transfer; thermal conductivity ageing of cellular insulating foam; testing of CFC-alternatives with the Delft sorption method; semi-permeable gas barrier layers; inhomogeneities of commercial polyurethane foam; vacuum panels.
