Summary

For industrial security studies, it is necessary to evaluate the two-phase flow during accidental discharge of pressurized liquefied gas tanks. This work describes the influence of the fluid nature, as well as of the pipe geometry. Using an experimental set-up, water, R11 and R113 are compared in the same plant. Measurements inside the tank show that during the discharge, pressure oscillations take place and are more significant for the CFCs than for the water. Despite those differences, the three tested fluids remain very close to equilibrium conditions. This analyse shows that it is necessary to take friction into account in order to achieve a good description of the values obtained along the pipe.
