Update on leakage detection technology and refrigerant recovery.

Mise à jour sur les techniques de détection de fuite et de récupération.

Author(s) : CLODIC D.

Summary

This article puts in perspective the European directive relating to the definition of maximum leakage from air-conditioning systems in motor vehicles and the advantage this represents for static air-conditioning systems. A summary of qualification methods for leakage detectors and ambience regulation systems is given and introduces the need for a primary standard to measure calibrated leaks. The work performed more than ten years ago on refrigeration recovery systems is mentioned and deserves to be revisited, in order to check the efficiency of the recovery operations of the systems sold on the market. Finally, perspectives are presented in order to achieve a veritable initial classification of the tightness of refrigeration components and the necessary improvements of tightness control in the field.
