Summary

The effect of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) on bananas was evaluated at intermediate stages of ripeness 36-48 h after having been commercially treated with ethylene. The authors concluded that, under the test conditions in this study, the efficacy of 1-MCP in delaying ripening of partially ripened bananas is too inconsistent for commercial application.
