Summary

The use of heat actuated cooling to recover the waste heat from the power source and utilize the cooling cycle can be beneficial in reducing the size, weight, and power consumption of US Army power and cooling systems. In a fielded military system the electronics utilize half the power produced by the generator and the cooling unit uses the other half. Therefore, utilizing waste heat recovery allows for the use of half as many generators of the current size. Reducing the power consumption reduces the amount of fuel that must be transported to the field and reduces the size of the generator set required to power the cooling unit.
