Summary
The World Energy Outlook provides a set of scenarios that explore different possible futures. The Current Policies Scenario shows what happens if the world continues along its present path, without any additional changes in policy. The Stated Policies Scenario incorporates today’s policy intentions and targets. The Sustainable Development Scenario maps out a way to meet sustainable energy goals in full, requiring rapid and widespread changes across all parts of the energy system.
This year’s Outlook underscores the crucial importance of Africa to the future of energy, and of energy to the future of Africa.
