Summary

VARIATIONS IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE X-RAY PHOTOELECTRON SPECTRA FROM THE SURFACE OF THESE SAMPLES WERE STUDIED AT THEIR DOPING WITH STRONTIUM AND SCANDIUM, MECHANICAL PURIFICATION, HEATING IN VACUUM, AND ION AND X-RAY IRRADIATION. IT WAS SHOWN THAT THE PRESENCE OF COPPER IN THE MIXED VALENCE STATE IS NECESSARY FOR THE HIGH-CRITICAL TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTIVITY IN THE STUDIED COMPOUNDS.
