1,1-difluoroethylene, a useful fluid for the refrigeration industry revisited.

Summary

1,1-difluoroethylene (VF2) is a well-known product in the chemical industry. Its use is proposed in refrigeration for the substitution of refrigerants with a low boiling point, such as R13 or R503. It has no effect on the ozone layer, a negligible GWP, and is non-toxic. It can be used as a pure refrigerant or in mixtures with the other components in order to replace a large range of CFC's and HCFC's. The stability of the mixture of VF2 and R134a has been tested, including contact with different materials before filling and operating a real refrigeration device with this blend.
