A NEW ABSORPTION MACHINE FOR AIR CONDITIONING OF RAILWAY COACHES.

Summary

RAILWAY COACHES ARE PRESENTLY AIR CONDITIONED BY SEMI-HERMETIC RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS REQUIRING A POWER SUPPLY CONVERTER. IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE AN ABSORPTION SYSTEM WITH ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE HEATING. THE COST MAY BE THREE TIMES LOWER THAN THAT FOR COMPRESSION MACHINES. THUS A COP OF 0.5 IS ACCEPTABLE. THE R22-TRIETHYLENEGLYCOL-DIMETHYLETHER MIXTURE APPEARS SPECIALLY PROMISING. EXPERIMENTAL EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN PRODUCED.
