Advances on thermophysical property studies of new alternative refrigerants.

Author(s) : WATANABE K., SATO H.

Summary

The authors report on recent and present studies in which they are involved on a broad range of alternative refrigerants, notably, R23, R32, R125, R134, R134a, R152a, R123, R124, R141b, R142b, and a range of binary and ternary mixtures of near-azeotropic type. The results of a world survey indicate the range of present work, while the authors detail their own studies and the laboratory equipment in present use, including isochoric apparatus for PVT and density measurements, an optical cell used in vapour-liquid coexistence studies and critical parameters, Burnett apparatus, a magnetic densimeter, and flow calorimeters for both liquid and vapour phases. A spherical resonator has been constructed to measure speed of sound in vapours and many properties have been satisfactorily correlated and modelled for the production of property tables. D.W.H.
