Advantages of cryopreservation of cell suspensions and embryogenic calli for citrus breeding programmes.

Summary

The best results were obtained by pretreatment with sucrose and DMSO followed by prefreezing to -40 deg C. In vitro plantlets morphologically similar to unfrozen controls were produced from cryopreserved suspensions. It was found that a 10-month storage period at -196 deg C did not modify cell survival.
